I pretty much dislike all fish and I know that has to change. Can someone recommend a non fishy fish?

Tilapia and whitefish are the best 2 non fishy fish

If you feel you can have just a slight bit of fish flavor, grouper, monkfish and flounder are all fairly light tasting.

Rockfish, stripped bass, haddock, flounder, tilapia, grouper. There are lots in my local grocery store. There are also scallops, crab and shrimp.

I've found chilean sea bass, mahi mahi, orange roughy and even swordfish are not fishy if prepared correctly and with simple ingredients..

I don't eat fish, but my wife swears by tilapia -- expressly because it is less 'fishy'. She's found that a lot of fish though is less 'fishy' if it is really fresh. Of course, depending on where you live, it may be next to impossible to get anything really fresh.

Just out of curiosity, why are you hellbent on making yourself eat something you don't like? That's what turned my first weightloss success into a failure ultimately. I actually have a habit of doing things like that to myself. My best friend refers to this as my 'self-flagellation ritual': reading books that I dislike to 'expand my mind', and feeding myself foods I can't stand because they're 'healthy'.

Definitely try new things, but there are plenty of options out there; you should be able to find foods to both enjoy and sustain you. :)

Hi Brenty, I figured I can only eat so much chicken I may as well branch out and try.

Ugh, i hate fish, cooked on a plate in front of me. When Dh brings his hardwon fish home i give it to the cats. Skin and bones *shudder*

However, i lov sashimi and gave it regularly, i slso like canned tuna and eat plenty of that. I do also eat salmon, often put it in a laksa or red curry

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
