My Band Has Slipped Twice

Recommended Posts

I had my lapband surgery on 9-4-2008. It went great. In 7 months I was down 70 pounds. That is the good part. The bad part is my band has slipped for the second time and I have gained back most of the weight but I still get sick almost everyday. I have to have an upper GI in order to take the next step to getting back on track but unfortunately I was laid off my job 2 years ago and cannot afford to pay for this myself. I am just wondering if this has happened to any of you. I have the Realize band.

How do you know it slipped? My doc told me mine was fine but never had restriction and it's supposed to be filled to the max. 3 years out

gosh... this seems to be the topic today (multiple slips)

Don't you wonder how you gain weight when you are throwing up everything you are eating.

I feel very fortunate today.

Best of Luck

The most usual way u gain weight is by eating more calories than you are burning and people who are pb'ing a lot or getting food stuck a lot tend to try and eat something and that normally is slider food and not so good on the calories ...

i can have a really bad day and eat more than i should, i am some Fluid missing from my band due to recent cosmetic surgery, but if i burn it off i dont put on weight .. the math is simple really, create a deficit and u dont put on weight ..

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
