I only lost 12 lbs the first 4 months. Then my fills started to give me the restriction I needed to eat less. I also visited with my nutritionist and she helped me make some changes in my food choices that helped a lot. I'm at 7 months out now and I've lost 40 lbs. It will happen, but you will have to jump through some hoops to get there. Be patient, make sure you call your doctor and get those fills as soon as you can.

You dont mention how many fills u have ... it is quite likely that u are not at restriction yet and therefore wont be losing much weight, although u have lost a decent amount. Dont be in a hurry u can only go at the pace the band was designed for this is a long term weight loss system not a quick one like a bypass, just watch what u eat and exercise, once u get a few more fills under your belt then u might start dropping weight quicker :)

I had band one month ago and only have lost 13 lbs. I, too, was very disappointed. I went for my first fill today - 3ccs. So far, I do not feel any restrictions, but have been on liquids all day. I have my second fill on July 6. I am praying that I see some results. I, also, had a hernia repair which was worth the surgery alone. I do not have any GERD - wonderful! My eating habits have improved. I do eat a more healthy diet,, but I am not good about exercising. Good luck to you and to me!!!!!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
