Anali11 9 Posted June 27, 2012 Hi everyone, so I am concidering lapband and I am super excited!!! I just am curious on what kind of pre-op testing is done and how long is the process of pre-op testing process before you can get the procedure done? I am completly new to this and the more info I get the better!!! Does anyone think that I would be able to get the labband by mid August, or is that too soon? Thanks
alley-gator 96 Posted June 27, 2012 Anali welcome! I am fairly new here too, but have been reading everthing I could get my hands on, and making calls like crazy! If you are self pay, I bet you could get it done by august. If you are using insurance, it depends on your plan. Some insurances have a 6 month diet you have to do before the surgery, some don't. If they do ( like mine, and I am just starting!) Then obviously it will be after that. Boo! However I've seen some self pays get it done very quickly! trisket 46 Posted June 27, 2012 I had my inital consulatation on the 6th of June. That day I had my breath test (can't remember the name) and EKG done. I also had my blood taken. I had one more appoitment on the 12th with my Doc and I am having my surgery in the MORNING!! I am self pay and and it has all happened very quick.

SqueakyV 0 Posted June 27, 2012 It just depends on your insurance company, It can be anywhere from 3-5 months.
Anali11 9 Posted June 27, 2012 Trisket, you are lucky to be able to get it done so soon! The only real time that I would be able to have the procedure done is in August because of work and school schedule; hopefully all goes well with insurance!!
cmoody821 44 Posted June 27, 2012 I had my appointment at the end of May and had a pulmonary function test, EKG, and blood work done. A psych eval and a few weeks later an EGD. My surgery is tomorrow so it took about a month for everything including insurance approval. 1 Cazzy reacted to this

NWgirl 574 Posted June 27, 2012 Call your insurance company up and ask if they cover lapband and what the requirements are. They will be able to tell you if you have to do a supervised diet or not.
