Banded 6-25-12

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! As you can tell I'm new to the forum. I had my band done yesterday morning in Windber, Pa. I came home early this afternoon. I have to admit, I'm feeling a little discouraged because I'm in more pain then I thought I would be. I had gas pains yesterday but they went away. Mostly its pain around the incisions and when I stand up I feel like my insides are coming out. I hope it starts improving soon. I'm looking forward to all I have to learn from everyone here.

Jessy

Welcome and congrats! It will get better, as many will tell you it will just take a few days. I started feeling close normal after about 3-4 days.

Congratulations on your post op status! Yes, this is the time for healing, and taking care of yourself. There will be some pain and discomfort, but the way you feel will improve rapidly.

It's important to stay "in front" of the pain...and pain management will help you to feel better. I only used the prescription pain med 2 times, and the rest of the time for the first several days used liquid Tylenol.

Best wishes...

Day two of being home and I have noticed a huge reduction in my pain. Yesterday I was feeling discouraged but things are looking up today!

I'm sure you are feeling better now. But I'll just share that I TOO was surprised how much it hurt post-op....only bc I thought this was a "nothing" operation. I was challenged by standing up from laying down and bending to pick up.

Didn't take long - I'm back in the garden, back reaching deep for laundry, etc.

Hi jessy , I had my band around the same time, only difference that I live in the middle east, I am doing well , I had one fill only and lost like 18 pounds,

My doctor told me that he does not want me to lose weight fast so I don,t have lose skin. I am supposed to do my fill in 3 weeks.

Avoid rice , meat ,mince meat , chocolate and gauzy Water and sodas even diet ones.

Good luck for both of us.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
