Baby Phat 0 Posted March 11, 2006 :help: I am in pain here. I feel like my pill is stuck in the back of my throat. It is causing me to dry heave (sp). I would be vomiting but I haven't anything in my stomach. I drinking a lot of Water to try to flush the pill down. It has been there for 1/2 hour. Any suggestions? I have vomitted before, however, this time it was different as nothing came up. I need this to be over real soon. Thanks for anything!!!
banded_for_life 2 Posted March 11, 2006 Any luck yet on getting it on down? Did you cut it in half?
DonnaB 3 Posted March 11, 2006 Warm Water or warm tea. Sip, sip, sip. Try to keep the pill wet until it unsticks. If your stomach can tolerate it, try some light food to push the pill off your throat. Come back to the board and tell us how it goes OK?
JAYGERL05 0 Posted March 12, 2006 I suggest a pill cutter or a pill crusher for future references. In the meantime keep drinking something warm, tea, coffee, cocoa, it seems to help until it finally goes down.
Baby Phat 0 Posted March 12, 2006 Thankf for your suggestions. I ended up just taking a nap. When I woke up, the pain was gone. I never have problems taking any pills except for the ones that I must take everyday. They are not big. I wonder if they tend to give me the stuck feeling because I do break them in half. I wonder if the jagged edge is the problem?? I will invest in a pill splitter. Thanks again!!
BandsterHopeful 1 Posted March 15, 2006 All medications need to be the size of an aspirin or smaller. If not, they can get stuck, or sit against the stoma and cause a lot of damage until they eventually go thru. Take no chances. Get things in a liquid form, cut them up if possible, crush if needed and possible, or use a smaller size from another manufacturer. Glad you made it thru!
