April 2006 Bandits

Recommended Posts

HI Patti welcome, you probably already know us really well hehehe!!!

Jeepergurrl, my doctor won't allow me to drink Soup from cans, pouches, tetra-paks or instant, due to most not being healthy, even the 98% fat free ones he says have too much sugar/calories,additives and sodium. that is why it has been so hard for me to find stuff.

:update:

Hi everybody Im back, actually I was back yesterday but I was quite tired:-) how is everybody doing? surgery went well,no poblems with aenesthesia, just some bleeding in the port area so they had to put some extra stitches inside.the port area hurt extremly but its possible that it was due to the extra stitches.I guess the worst thing is the gas from operation although I was walking 5 hours after the surgery (I guess its not common here cause the nurse said that she has never seen anybody walking so soon after the surgery).on wednesday I had terrible problem with the gas so I asked the doc to give me some medication.that helped, thank god.one day after surgery they gave me plain yougurth for Breakfast and then chicken broth. No I eat yougurth, pudding, chicken broth and sometimes one piece of hard candy.I try to drink a lot of Water, some redcurrant juice, and roiboos tea. I feel good and from yesterday I can sleep on my side (of course not port side:-).If you have any questions just ask:biggrin1: have a grat day and congratulations to you all :whoo: :gluck:

Found some great Soups at Kroger's (grocery store in the south U.S) in the health food dept.

They are all organic soups--are already strained and are so so delicious. The ones I bought were: sweet potato, broccoli, butternut squash, and potato leek. They come in a cardboard carton. You just pour the Soup in a pan and heat--don't add any Water.

I add a little bit of sour cream to them, and boy, are they delicious!!!

Hope this helps.

So I'm home from the Hospital, in a fair amount of pain, but I'm getting better all the time. My surgery went really well, I don't remember a thing, and the parts I do remember are a bit fuzzy.

The very worst part is gettin up and down from sitting or lying. It's just so painful to use your stomach muscles at all. How long did this pain last for you guys?

way to go bostongirl.

Yes, I needed my husband to help me get down and up.....it was difficult without anything to hold onto to assist me.

I had my surgery on Friday (one week ago today actually!) and by Mon I was getting up and down (ie. into a sitting and lying position) by myself. He went back to work on Mon so that was my goal. It still hurt a bit but was doable. Now, the pain isn't so bad...it's no problem getting up and down AND I can now sleep on my side (AND my tummy!!!) with no problems...I"m just cautious when I roll over to get into that position.

You'll do great!

Hey Eva, re. wls: I think I lost 3-4 lbs just prior to surgery (no pre-op diet). So that puts me exactly where you are. We'll cross the wls finish line together. I've been on mushies since Tuesday afternoon and I'm already so tired of this food choice. Oh well, a girls gotta do what a girl's gotta do!!! Have a great weekend. BTW, I've had that same feeling.....what have I done to myself....YIKES

Our month is almost over, way to go April Bandits!

It's hard to believe that almost a month has passed since I was banded. :faint:

I found out today that my first fill will be May 15. That's seven weeks after surgery. Dr. Smith likes to do the first one around the sixth week, but this was the first available time. By golly I'll take it! Woo Hoo! I get to take a day off from work, and it's a Monday even. :biggrin1:

I'm still doing ok with what I'm eating. It's usually 4-6 oz with hard Protein first. About the only time I go above 4 oz is when I really want veggies with my meal and I add a bit extra. :hungry: But I'm finding that when I eat my protein first, I'm really not hungry for 4 hours. Wow! That is such a strange feeling.

Congratulations to us all!

Audra

Hi everyone. I haven't been able to get on in a while but wanted to update you guys and also congratulate everyone who was banded in April. I had my first post-op visit a week ago and it went well. My surgeon was happy with my weight loss so far. He said that normally, people don't lose a lot of weight before getting their first adjustment. At that point I had lost 16 lbs. I have not had any nausea, no pb's, no slimes, no vomiting. It has all been good. Starting Tuesday I can start to eat solid foods as I will be 4 weeks out. I have begun to eat tunafish and that goes down okay. I feel like I am turning into a mouse with all the cheese I have been eating too!!! So far the total weight loss since surgery is 21 lbs. I feel great! One suggestion for everyone... make sure you take it easy for the first six weeks... no heavy lifting. I lifted a printer in my office and carried it from one end of the office to the other, and I have an aching/soreness in the port area since.

GREAT NEWS EVERYONE: I woke up this morning and I was sleeping on my TUMMY!!! WHOOOOOOOOOO HOooooooooooooooooooo I loooove sleeping on my tummy!! That's gotta be a good sign!!!

:clap2:

I was able to sleep on my stomach for the first time last night, also. Woo Hoooooooo!! I'm really feeling a lot better with each passing day. It's like I can tell a difference every morning when I get moving around. It's great. And I'm getting more and more use to being restricted from food. The first couple of days were like tragedy struck! I was thinking..."what the hell was i thinking??!!?" I'm already planning my first fill date. I'm shooting for some time near June 1st. I was filled down in Mexico so I'm planning to leave a few days early for a bit of a mini-vacation and I want to enjoy some of that awesome Mexican food before the fill!! I know that so contradicts what I said above. :P

Anyways, the only thing that's really bothering me is my bra when I sit at work or in the car. It rests right on my upper stomach whenever I'm in that position and I feel like THAT is giving me the golfball effect. Is that weird?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
