Banded 4/20/12 And Concerned.......

Recommended Posts

Thank you guys for all of your input. I only have two PA's available to me and they r both new to the facility that I receive my fills. Both PA's have an extensive bariatric background according to the one I saw........mind u this particular PA is not banded and the hefer is my size. I almost felt like telling her to apply the lap band diet to herself because she could also afford to lose a few. From the get go this person was VERY condescending because she saw that I had mentioned reflux at my last appt.and gave me the lecture from hell w/o letting me get one word in edgewise. What the broad did not know is that I have had freaking reflux prior to surgery and at my last visit the NP and I were trying to figure out if my excess mucous was allergy related or true reflux. ( I chew every bit to mush and I wait one minute or more between bites.) Then she suggested to remove the 1 cc I have in my band........I told her if that is what she felt is medically necessary to narrow my problem down then by all means do it............and of course she didn't take any one cc out because she was being facetious. I can take the heat and I am not one to BS but I am truly baffled about my last appointment. Hopefully' date=' I can get a fill at my next appt. Thanks guys for your support![/quote']

I am sorry, I would usually not even comment on this, but I found that your use of the term hefer to be pretty insulting.

I understand how upsetting not getting the right support can be, but why would you go around insulting other fat people? You don't know her or her weight struggles, but you know your own and I'm guessing you sure as hell wouldn't want a stranger calling you a fat hefer so why would you do it to someone else?

I'm guessing your words were written out of anger, so I've said my piece and I hope you're able to get a fill at your next appointment.

FAT PEOPLE.....DID YOU JUST SAY FAT PEOPLE? NWgirl ya gots three fingers pointing right back at ya. ;) Oh and I didn't call her a fat hefer.......I called her a hefer. :D

I'm sorry, but isn't it realistic to say that we are fat, no? Isn't that the reason why we are all here? So my use of the word fat is not meant as an insult, like your use of the word hefer. You've since edited your post, but you did call her fat in another part of the post, so I was just combining your terms.

Like I said, I was just trying to remind you to be mindful of others struggles with weight, even when those people upset you.

Oh don't get so upset..................think of it as me using the term hefer as a term of endearment for someone that gives horrible patient care! I could have called her a lot worse.....

I never liked the word "FAT", whether I was in my thin stage or heavy stage of life. I myself prefer the word "FLUFFY". I absolutely hate hearing anybody refer to someone as "FAT". I even reprimand my husband, who has gained some weight over the last few years, for saying snide remarks about overweight people. This overweight issue is a disease we have. We are addicts, I have read so much since being banded 4 years ago and I am a food ADDICT, there is no two ways about it. I will always have this fight to keep where I am with or without the band. I had gained about 8 pounds from last winter and am now starting to get it off, it is truly a struggle but if I don't do this now, it will become 10 pounds, 20 pounds, etc. until I regain the 90 pounds lost originally. I will never be cured but am healthy and happy where I am now. Please always keep in mind, we have been up and down before, it could happen again whether you have the band or not and we could be right back where we started. I believe you just had a bad experience and were just venting and that is good. Not good to keep the anger in. Now go on and find a good doctor to take care of your needs and move on to bigger and better things. Good luck.

I never liked any of those words! It still pains me to admit that I used to be "obese"... it's hard to say that word... Anyway, I just wanted to post to agree with the folks who suggested that you change PAs -- actually, if you can change doctors, maybe that would be better.

And yes... the WHOLE POINT of having a band is that you should be able to use it at good restriction! Those people are nuts!!

Oh well -- once you get to good restriction, you'll lose without undue trouble, and this will be just a distant memory...

Best wishes for your success,

Catherine

Thanks Sparkplug...............I did get a fill........0.5cc's yesterday. I actually had 3 cc's right out of surgery and 1 cc placed at post surgery visit. Your reply is encouraging.........and yes I am going to move forward and stay positive. Being angry is a waste of energy.............

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
