Possible Slipped Band?

Recommended Posts

Banded 5 years ago. Fills up until 2 years ago. I had my son & was very sick-high risk Doc had all the Fluid removed from the band. I never had any put back. For 6 months now I've been feeling very tight at my port/stomach/esophagus like I've just had a fill. It is worse at night while trying to lie down. I can only sleep on my back with 1 pillow. If I move-especially to the left side the pressure is intense in my stomach and throat. I can eat and drink anything...I just haven't wanted to as much because of this tightness. It can happen at any time during the day and sometimes hits when I stand up. It has been worse the past 3 months. Yesterday I tried to take an antibiotic for sickness I've been having. And it got stuck...felt like my throat had swelled. It got down easy to my chest area and then just stopped. It was not stuck in the band-I've had that feeling with rice. But felt like my throat was too tight down low at it's base. I finally had to wretch it up. Today my throat is a little sore from the wretching. Any ideas...or should I see the doc I haven't seen in 2 years...who will charge me a ton just for a consult!! Thanks in advance.

I have to say u need to return to your bariatric surgeon, this may not be a slip as u dont have any fill, it could be a number of other problems, the expense isnt worth your health so u need to go back and sort this problem out.

See the Dr, you don't want to mess around with something going drastically wrong because you didn't want to pay. If there's something wrong, the faster you catch it, the better.

See your doctor and see him/her ASAP. You mention being like this for more than three months. Who knows what damage could be happening to your body in that time!

Please, see your doctor!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
