2muchfun 8,927 Posted June 26, 2012 Just reached day 20 and was emailing nurse practitioner that I work with saying I need a fill! She said no fills till 6 weeks and I have healed. I asked if I should increase my calories from 800 to 1000 and she said that it won't hurt for now and that it is basically all on willpower at this point. I have lost 25 lbs as of today so it's worth it to keep going. She also told me not to eat any slippery foods ie oatmeal Soup Protein shakes make sure I am eating solids like hard boiled eggs burger chicken etc. I was nervous about getting fills before now I'm counting the days! Lol. I was supposed to wait another week before I was to get my first fill. I didn't throw a fit but I made it clear I was starving and needed a fill. I got in one week early. 20 days is way too early but you might call back and ask to speak to someone higher up? Maybe email or talk to the doc and tell him you're ready and could you move it up 1-2 weeks? All they can say is no. The nutritionist is not a nurse or doctor. Be polite but go over her head. But the doctors have inside information on how much trauma they did to your insides so in some cases don't be surprised if they hold to that 6 week schedule. tmf
shellvw 21 Posted June 26, 2012 Thanks for that tip I may look into it. It was actually the nurse practitioner who is the bariatric surgery coordinator who has had weight loss surgery herself. I think I will be okay but I may end up calling surgeon of it gets too frustrating!
highland 168 Posted June 26, 2012 One thing new bansters need to understand....don't expect much from the first two or three fills. I felt nothing until fill 4. It's a long process to get to that infamous green zone, but when you do, it's wonderful! So hang in there, dig your heels in, and know that you can and will do this!!!! 1 Mrs. Curtis reacted to this

Yeah, I had my rose colored glasses on for 6 months before surgery and 2 months after. Then it hit me after fill #2 did squat. WTF? I'm not sure if I came on this forum and boo hoo'd or not, but it is definitely a frustrating time. tmf
LoozQuoils 22 Posted June 26, 2012 Before I had a fill I ate about a Tablespoon of Peanut Butter or I would mix a small amount of the peanut butter with a flavored yogurt (Raspberry Chobani) and it was like peanut butter and jelly in a cup.

2muchfun 8,927 Posted June 27, 2012 Follow your doctors orders. Eat when you get hungry. You can't look at a scale every day or two and expect any change. It doesn't work that way. You may go weeks without the scale moving. tmf
yvonne74 73 Posted June 27, 2012 When I was first banded, I expressed my concerns to the dietitican about how hungry I was and all, she said there is no way he would give me a fill so early. I was even more frustrated at the thought of going so hungry. Thankfully, my appt with my surgeon was later in the afternoon and he did give me a fill. So definitely talk to your surgeon and just let him know whats going on, the worst he can say is no fill. 1 2muchfun reacted to this
