jessicarage 3 Posted June 25, 2012 I called my insurance company, they told me that I had to do a 6 month diet, but wen I went to see my surgeon he didn't mention the diet, he just told me to go see 4 specialist ( I was able to have all appointments done on two days, the surgeon gave me 2 months to complete it). So I wondering if maybe they were going to waive the diet because of my bmi. Has anyone heard of having the diet waived? Or will the surgeon tell me about the diet after they submit my papers to the insurance company ?
Grandma3 73 Posted June 25, 2012 The surgeon probably hasn't checked your insurance yet and doesn't know. If the insurance requires it you will have to do it. I had to do it also, went thru the motions but didn't try to hard. Good luck.
Jim1967 3,569 Posted June 25, 2012 If you want your insurance to pay for it you and the surgeon need to follow their criteria. I had to do a 6 month as well. Like Grandma said the Surgeon probably doesn't know about the insurance part and probably has a Staff that worries about that.
jeani81 93 Posted June 25, 2012 There is no way around the insurance requirements. Your doctor doesn't submit to the insurance until all specialists are done but my surgeons office was very thorough and found out everything for me by. The second visit. honk 780 Posted June 25, 2012 I had the opposite situation. My doctor required that I loose 10% body weight before surgery my insurance had no requirements (ie 6 month diet etc).
