Hard Knots Were Incisions Are

Recommended Posts

I have painful hard knots were my cuts were not the small holes just the cuts. They are hard and pull and are in uncomfortable more than anything. Does anyone else have this and does it go away??

I had something similar to what you are referring to...and was told pre op that this would be most likely scar tissue.

I used Mederma on my incisions after they had closed with initial healing, and following the instructions, massaged the gel into my skin. The knots did eventually resolve, as the healing and massaging over time helped the healing process.

I would ask your surgeon about this before using the Mederma or massaging your incision sites...

it is part of the healing process and that hardness will leave eventually. if you are going to massage... be VERY careful. i personally would just leave it alone. it will go. ive always had raised hardened areas on my incision sites after surgery. They are fine now, they have all disappeared over time.

Thanks guys its almost instinctive to want to gently rub them. Oh I just went out to eat ay a BBQ place after I ate it was like I didn't even touch my plate. I feel like the waitress looks at me funny because I ask for a to go box. The other day I went out and asked if I could get the half plate the waitress actually told me that plate is pretty small. I said I know I have the lap band I can't eat very much. Maybe I'm just thinking ppl are thinking this way.

I have a friend that carries a card showing she has had lapband surgery and she shows it to the waitress so she can order from the kids menu. I've thought about getting a card...

@ Karen, my surgeon gave me a card the day of the surgery. I carry it in my wallet.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
