Food And Going To The Gym.

Recommended Posts

Can anyone recommend what's a good type of energy food to eat before a workout. I find my energy levels are quite low. I go to the Gym normally early in the mornings so Breakfast ideas would be much appreciated. Band is also quite tight so limited as to what I can eat.

I just put Unjury Protein Powder in my Water before going to the gym . Then I always take string cheese if I am going to be there a while

Morning is very tough for me. I usually do a high Protein shake but try to do it no closer than an hour before the workout as I get 'BG" (Bubble gut as my trainer calls it). I also use a workout supplement but that is not for everyone. My workouts are pretty intense. There are a ton of them out there and they seem to work differently for different people. I use Jack3D. Tastes like crap but definitely keeps me up for my training session.

Disclaimer: I am no medical professional and I know those supplements have ardent proponents and detractors. Simply saying what I do.

i go to the gym around 5 every morning so im not exactly hungry when i leave the house but i do drink a pre exercise supplement called Jack3D, it gives you extra energy and stimulates your metabolism. After my workout( cardio days=1hr, strenght and cardio days=1 1/2 hrs) i sit in the sauna(10-15 mins) and drink my Protein Shake to help my body recover and plenty of Water of course.....breakfast is usually about 8:30 for me, have an awesome recipe for crustless quiche that you can make ahead of time, pop it in the microwave and your good to go thru lunch or early snack time(usually greek yogurt @11:30) ....my band seems to be more restricted in the morning so i tend to eat more mushie food

i use this website alot for recipe ideas, hope it helps you find some good stuff to eat www.personal-nutrition-guide.com, select wt loss surgery on the side tab then lap band diet...Good Luck on your journey

Oh I agree. They all seem to taste like crap. I just have to remind myself that I am not drinking for pleasure. I have used Jack (three flavors), SuperPump and Crave. Jack seems to be the best.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
