Three years after banding, I weight more than ever. I'm still throwing up, even after several adjustments. This has not been the solution I had hoped. Now I just want it taken OUT! What is involved, physically and financially? My surgeon is in Houston, and I like him very much. But it involves flying to Houston for each procedure. I don't necessarily trust the newcomers in my area...

I so Sorry Louise - What does the doc say? Is there a underlying reason?

Hi Louise...

I just wanted to say how sorry I am that you've had so much trouble and I really empathize with your situation. If I were you I would opt for an experienced surgeon that is local if that is an option. Again... sorry you have had such a rough road of it.

Louise,

I'm sorry you feel this way. I don't mean to question what apparently is a firm decision on your part, but can you tell us about your journey other than you weigh more than you did before and you're vomiting all the time. Maybe we can help. Sometimes support is all you need to get you going again.

As far as the removal surgery, I wouldn't think the surgery itself wouldn't be much different than having the band installed. They'd have to take the band off of the actual stomach and I'm sure remove the port. I have no idea about costs. It depends on where you go and if you have insurance coverage, I'm sure.

Awe Louise, ((hugs)) to you!

What about getting a switch from the band to another form of WLS - is this an option (or even a solution)?

You have had no luck with the doc you have, so why not give a newcomer a try. It seems to me nothing could go worse than it has. I'm so sorry for the trouble you have. Have you ever been checked for slippage or erosion to see if that may be the cause of you not losing weight. Maybe it is time to change doctors if he hasen't suggested any of this to you.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
