Day one of my rep op diet and I don't like opti fast shakes. I also was only arable to get three in because I didn't plan well enough today. 13 more days to go I hope it goes fast.

i had to do the opti fast stuff too. strawberry was my "favorite" if you can call it that. try freezing them for about 30 minutes to get them super cold and kind of icy. I was only able to get 2 or 3 in per day. I had salads for lunch a few days. I had grilled salmon for dinner a few nights. Im not a model pre op dieter but i made it through and lost a total of 8 pounds. Good luck! It gets easier.

Do you have to do opti fast shakes, or can you choose another brand? I would ask if there is another option.

My doc had me do slim fasts and I just got the cans so it made it easy.

Sometimes if they suggest it is for ease, but sometimes they have backup brands...

(I would add maybe some crushed ice to it, the colder a drink is, the less u can taste it :)

Maybe hold your nose when you drink it? HA HA! Just kidding, although I never had to do Optifast, I agree that the colder the better. :) I had a three-day clear liquid pre-op diet and my nutritionist suggested Optipure drinks. I get them at GNC and they are zero carb, 40 grams of Protein per bottle. Clear liquid, lots of flavors. They are best super cold as well, but I would have keeled over if I hadn't have had those!

BEST of LUCK, I know you'll do great and 13 days will FLY by!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
