So I posted this somewhere else and no one responded and I am sorry to be a nuisance but I was really excited about it so I thought I would try one more time...I hope you all don't mind :)

So I thought it might be fun (and very, very helpful for myself and others) to try to generate some menu ideas. I do not do well without a plan and it takes me FOREVER! to write up menus for myself. I know we cannot all eat the same things sometimes but who better to know what a good lapband day should look like than my fellow lapbanders. So if you could tell me what you would eat for a whole day while following the lapband rules and even how you prepare the food (if you like) I would be so very appreciative!

First, you need to be more specific? What do bandsters in their 3rd week eat, or what do bandsters in the green zone eat? Or in-between post op and green zone?

BTW-If you click on the forums tab at the top left and scroll down to "food and nutrition". You can find anything you want regarding diets, foods etc.

1 jimmy dean turkey sausage patty chopped

1/2 oz cheese

1 tsp bacon bits

lunch 2:00pm

grilled chicken spinach salad or a Protein drink

1 cup spinach, 3oz grilled chicken, small amount of carrots, onion, apple, gorganzola cheese, almonds

I make a dressing using 1oz vanilla carbmaster yogurt and 1Tbsfrozen apple juice concentrate.

dinner 6:00pm

Veries a lot.....

Usually 3oz of beef, pork, or chicken

followed by either green beens, or roasted squash

Some quick meals that I like to have on hand

Oscar Meyer turkey weiners ---only 40 calories each!!

Johnsonville Turkey and cheese sausage---120 calories each

We have the same Breakfast. It's hard to find Breakfast foods the band likes. Have you seen the jimmy dean turkey sausage crumbles? Already cooked and ready to add to your omelette. I figure the calorie count for this omelette is around 180 wouldn't you think. And it's filling!

I try to have tuna or chicken salad around for lunch or a quick snack. Load it up with red and yellow peppers, jalapenos, dill pickle relish, celery. Still around 200 calories.

dinner is a crap shoot(not literally). But, I have to cook for me and my wife so lots of salads, hamburger steaks, meatloaf, seafood, vegetables, some fruit thrown in.

I am looking for what people eat when they are near or in the green zone :) I am trying to plan ahead as much as possible by compiling a big list of menu ideas because that is when I do best with self control. I wil go through the nutrition tab. Thanks

It's when you are at proper restriction with the band. Aka sweet spot.

I also eat 2 egg whites with 2 to 3 turkey sausage links for breakfast. I eat greek yogurt if i dont feel like making breakfast.

I have discovered morningstar veggie patties which taste amazing and they are only 150 calories! I make shrimp and broccoli all the time. It's less than 100 calories for a cup! I'm still in between surgery and my first fill but have a pretty good restriction already! I have tried to eat everything except carbs like rice, Pasta, potatoes, breads, cereals, I've had none of that stuff yet. Someone suggested to me that when I feel I want to "cheat" to have a weight watchers or lean cuisine meal...... I'm dying for pizza!!!! Lol

I don't usually crave any particular foods but Friday's seem to be tough on me. The wife and I have this tradition where I go to Chipotle's and get us two giant fajita burritos. Can't do that anymore but I still go and get her one. I'm having a salad and a fish dish tonight instead.

Pizza! I work from home and I'm on the computer all day. I get so many pizza offers from pizza Hut, DD's sourgough Pizza, Papa Johns, Papa Murphy's. And yes, I'd love a pizza. Maybe once I get to my first big goal of 175 lbs I might take a shot at it.

It's hard when your used to eating a certain way and then suddenly stop. When my husband snd I spend all day out with the kids, we would always get take out before we came home. Now they get take out and I come home and eat something else. The first time there was a Dominos pie in my house I cried cause I couldnt eat it but I'm a little more focused now!!

I have a HARD time when I shop at the store as I am by myself and so I don't like to cook hardly at all for just me. I find it extremely hard to find anything to quidk fix other than tuna or chicken in a can as all things ares mixed with rice or noodles or some other pasta..I was told to not have that even in Lean Cuisine or Weight Watcher meals.....makes it harder....

I usually eat two Turkey sausage patties for breakfast (730ish) then around 10 a cheese stick or Protein bar, lunch is usually chicken salad with just mustard & low fat mayo. dinner is basically a salad.

My nurse told me if I wanted to I could eat TV dinners (not every night) but that its easier to count the calories since its already calculated on the box for the total meal.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
