Band A Little Tight? Dangerous

Recommended Posts

The biggest challenge for me (and it has not been that bad) has been planning ahead for my eating. My doctor does not believe in snacking. However if you really have to have Snacks (long time between meals) bring premade Protein Shakes, apples etc, Protein Bars (look for no more than 220 cals), or low fat cheese sticks. They are easy to carry. There is nothing worse than being super hungry and not having healthy options available. The next thing you know you are chosing something high in cals/fat/carbs.

It sounds like you are too tight. Vomiting is NOT something you have to learn to live with. You can develop complications and have band slippage. It is counterproductive to have your band too tight. Think of your body as your car, you have to have oil ( water) and fuel ( food) to run efficiently. The common thread that you will hear is that if you are vomiting, either change your food choices or else the band is too tight. Good luck!

Boniluu - heart goes out to you. Right now' date=' I too am tight - probably too tight. I have PBed daily since my fill 2 weeks ago. The chest pains, slime and reguritation is awful. That said, I have dorpped 8 pounds in 14 days (the 4 I gained + 4 more). I see the doctor again July 6th and unless things change, I will ask for a very slight unfill. I worry about getting enough nutrition plus these "episodes" are very embarrasing. I actually drive around with a roll of papertowels next to me in the car and carry them with me. I wanted a good fill because of the weight gain so I got what I asked for. I can get fluids down and Protein shakes so I won't starve. Hey guys, take care and hang in there.

I recently had a fill and I'm pretty tight. I would like to suggest to you try taking small bites and then chew very well. If your using a fork or spoon same thing and put your silverware down and chew. It has been working for me.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
