uiwleelee 13 Posted June 21, 2012 I have humongous thighs. I have never been able to wear shorts that didn't reach my knees. Ever. I can't wear a bathing suit either because of the chafing. Last summer, I wore trunks that were too thin out to a waterpark, and came home with a horrible burn between my thighs from all the chafing. Quite frankly, it sucks. The things is, I see girls with thighs my size, sometime even bigger, that can wear short and walk around in them like no problem. Am I the only one who chafes like that? Or is there some miracle to prevent the chafing that I don't know about?
NWgirl 574 Posted June 21, 2012 Use A&D or some other baby rash cream. They also make chafing sticks for runners that may be useful. 2 Lhiggin and dylanmiles23 reacted to this
kah1213 311 Posted June 21, 2012 Everyone is built differently but I agree with the above poster. Try the glide that runners use.

Cazzy 725 Posted June 21, 2012 I had big thighs when i weighed my heaviest i always found prevention better than cure .. topical medications often help heal a chafe but have a tough time preventing it on somewhere like your thighs. i would look into investing into some compression garments so that your skin is held in one place and doesnt stand a chance to rub around. I am wearing compression garments now i had my cosmetic surgery and i wish i had known about them when i weighed my heaviest. They do do shorts and legs etc these are medical compression garments but i am sure u can get them cheaper else where .. http://www.bodyshapemedasun.com/marena_LGL2_girdle.html have a look these might be the answer u need i know they would have helped me in the past ... maybe just look into Spanx legs and shorts etc.. the trick is to not let your leg flesh wobble around and rub against the other leg without being protected
PandorasBox92264 61 Posted June 21, 2012 Ok you will laugh.. but I used to have this problem HORRIBLY...It would get inflamed, so red swollen and irriated. I would put baby powder on it to help sooth.. my Dad suggested this and this is off the wall but he also tried it and it cleared up the problem. I tried it because of desperation and it was probably 20 yrs ago He has some athletic foot spray, make sure you have underwear on so you dont get it near your girlie bits. Spray some Tinactin, then a layer of desinex... they are both antifungal athletic foot spray.. I dont know exactly why, but I NEVER have had it come back to that degree since I did that treatment.. It fixed his issue to evidently. after The only time I get any irritation is if elastic on my panties gets twisted... I also blow dry my personal area to make sure it is moisture free after a shower.. This also works IF you have a tendency for yeast infections.. or irritation in general. Hope this helps because it helped fix mine..and it has helped others i know.. 2 dylanmiles23 and new_lashan1 reacted to this
LaLu 37 Posted June 21, 2012 Your not the only one!!! I couldn't even go to the mall without doing a lap and being in pain. I used to wear tights/leggings ALL the time. I tried everything to stop it but it doesn't work. I have asked so many people and no one I know gets it on their inner thighs. I have big black marks/scars from chaffing all the time and they really upset me. I don't get the chaffing as bad anymore but to be honest it's because I avoid walking in summer because of it. And if I HAVE to walk or go to the shops for an hour or more I wear tights. This is a major reason for me hating excersizing and also why swimming is my favortie. I get this really bad at the beach as well and just refuse to go anymore. I also see a lot of girls my size and bigger than me who give me weird looks or comments when I ask them or even ask on the Internet. I don't understand why it's not a really common thing in overweight people. I'm almost 130kgs and 20 years old and had this chaffing of my inner thighs since I can remember. It's horrible. I found that any powders made it SO much worse. Maybe we sweat more there than other people of bigger sizes? I gave up on finding something to help and just stick to my leggings if it gets bad. Humming Bird 275 Posted June 21, 2012 I had the problem for many years. In the summer I would just wear capri pants. I also have a couple pairs of stretchy jogging/biking type shorts and wear them under sundresses. Last summer and this one I pretty much stick with the capris. My arms are pretty ugly for the sundresses now.
puppyphat 397 Posted June 21, 2012 I always end up wearing out the insides of the thighs in all of my jeans and pants. It gets to the point where you can see through the fabric, only where my thighs rub together. If the crotch in my pants sits too low the chaffing nearly brings me to tears. I'm about 190lb and having my surgery next month. Can't wait to be able to walk without my legs rubbing together.
mountainnurse 19 Posted June 21, 2012 I love my Spanx for this very issue. I wear dresses a lot. They really help!

Or is there some miracle to prevent the chafing that I don't know about? I have this problem...especially in the summer and my husband has this problem because he works in a HOT warehouse. We have found that "Bag Balm" works the best!!! It has a funky smell...but it is soothing and doesn't burn. In fact, it is also an amazing cure for diaper rash. I find Bag Balm--which is in a green tin--at either a farm supply place or at Walgreens with the lotions--usually at the very top or very bottom shelf...but your best bet would be a farm supply place or online. gaiagal 5 Posted July 16, 2012 I have this issue too...it was a problem even when I was skinny. I've tried all sorts of things...balms, salves, chafe glide, powder...you name it! My doc recommended Monistat Chafing Relief powder Gel...it's worked miracles for me (really!). The only downside to this product is that it can be pricey if you use it all the time. Hope you find something that works :-) 1 PuraVida37 reacted to this
pandabear 39 Posted July 17, 2012 I have just ordered skin dura chaf stick on etsy.com I haven't tried it yet, but a lot of people says it helps the "chub rub" lol their words not mine. I will let you know how it goes for me.
puppyphat 397 Posted July 18, 2012 If the lap band doesn't work in creating a little distance between the thighs, I'm looking into getting an avo. "Left thigh must stay at least 2inches away from right thigh at all times for fear of actual bodily harm".
