i would check with your Dr as to what they do and dont want you to do before the fill as every dr is probably different. Mine just says no food for 4 hrs before the fill and no more liquids for 1 hr before the fill. The fill itself is easy, they just have you sip this yucky tasting drink and watch on a screen as it goes down . You are laying down on a table or recling chair , then the tech puts the needle full of saline in your port, you say ouch and you're done. Kinda like being at the denist for a cleaning, its no big deal. my Dr says liquids only for the next 48 hrs, then carefully try out solids to see how you react. (After my 5th fill i couldnt get near raw broccoli, i miss it but i dont miss the extra weight !) Anyway , its easy....... so good luck !

Oh , and no changes in your activities as far as i know, same as usual unless your Dr says otherwise.

I dont have to change anything except nothing to eat or drink an hour before hand, i dont have to do anything special after a fill, just my doctor says eat carefully, i dont feel a fill for around 2 weeks after anyways so would be pointless me doing liquids for 48 hours :)

your activity level shouldnt alter just because u had a fill .. your doctor will tell u any post fill instructions :) it it over very quickly so its not a big thing :)

Not all drs do fills under the x-ray method that was described above, either. My dr has me lie on the table, he inserts the needle and adds the fill, withdraws the needle, puts a bandaid on the spot and makes sure I can drink a glass of Water before leaving his office.

No prep beforehand, mushies for the next day or two.

It's all painless, except for last time when he had difficulty getting into my port, but that is a different story!

I have had two versions..

My surgeon back east they used to have me lay down, insert needed do the fill/bandaid then drink a glass of Water before leaving the office. Prior to the visit I wouldnt eat much or right on top of the visit.

The new Doc that I have here in Ca.. same on the food nothing sitting around in pouch..

inserts needle.. puts Fluid in.. makes you sit up with the needle still in your tummy which freaked me out a bit BUT it doesnt hurt.

They then make you drink Water kinda fast to see if it comes back up. Or how slow it is going down.. if you run into a problem and it starts to want to come up they can immediatly pull out Fluid to get you over the block. It saves them from having to stick you twice and can relieve you faster..

I prefer the way my new Doc does it because you get to drink a bit faster than normal to see if there is something going to go on...

both docs wanted liquid for same day as fill then pureed foods the next.. then go with comfort level on the 3rd day...

So I went through my first fill.. Similar process to yours.. They injected 3 cc's and I noticed I'm not eating as much in one sitting but I feel like I get hungrier often. I know many ppl have said the restrictions may take awhile to kick in.. But it's now Sunday and I got my fill on Fri. The surgeon said it may take a few visits and fills for me to finally see some and feel some significant results.. I guessing just need to be patient! And keep focused!

Nothing pre fill; after 24 hours full liquids, and then 24 hrs mushies.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
