3Week Post Op Tummy Hurting

Recommended Posts

Tomorrow will be my 3rd week post op & I had been feeling great. No issues until Monday when my port location started hurting. Woke me up otta my sleep. I have not been taking pain meds for weeks & I had to take something to sleep. Very strange it would start throbbing 3 weeks later. It also freaks me out that I can feel my port. Is that normal? It's super gross. My port still hurts today. Not sure if I should call my doc? It's tender to the touch & I can't lay flat.

You have maybe just pulled the muscle that your port is attatched to or it has shifted a stitch etc .. unless the area is very red and looks inflamed it will probably settle after a while ..if you are concerned u should contact your doctor ...

I have never seen on here anyone describe their port as 'super gross' lol .. to me its just blemish .. if it grosses u out are u touching it a lot, fiddling with it ? sorry dont mean to sound obvious but sometimes if we have something on / in our bodies and we can feel it we tend to feel it a lot, i know i do ..

I'm 4 weeks out and my port area is hurting. I haven't had meds in weeks either. Mine feels like I pulled something. (like a tear)

I couldn't understand it either since the pain just all of a sudden hit me. I thought maybe I over ate because I haven't lifted anything heavy. Hope you feel better

Yes, I am feeling it alot & yes grossed out is probably a new word...lol...to be honest that was my biggest issue w/ doing the surgery, having a foreign object in my body that I could feel. Freaks me out. It's just that I can feel it perfectly...ugh. So glad I have boobs b/c a boob job would not be in my future:). I'll try not to touch!

It's not red it just all of a sudden started hurting. Never thought about a pulled muscle. Ouch

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
