jen_1381 446 Posted June 21, 2012 I remember in the first WLS seminar the nutritionist recommended now chewing gum. Has anyone heard this, and if so, what is the reasoning? I would imagine that swallowing your gum could be problematic, and I know chewing gum stimulates your gastric juices...but is there a risk to chewing gum post-band? (FYI - I sure hope not - because if so I'm being a non-compliant bandster!!)
iammisslinda 10 Posted June 21, 2012 Yes my notes say NEVER CHEW GUM. Apparently it is really really bad if you accidentally swallow it
honk 780 Posted June 21, 2012 I chew gum all the time. No problems knock on wood. I do not recommend chewing gum while working out and then trying to drink from a water bottle. I was close to restriction and the gum got washed down by accident. I drank losts of Water, and took papaya pills and things were fine.
PandorasBox92264 61 Posted June 21, 2012 I chew gum sometimes and had never been told not to. I do not swallow it and never have since I was little on accident. I am assuming it is a stuck issue.
