Noisy Stomach?

Recommended Posts

I got my first fill yesterday, my surgeon put on 3 cc. He had me sip Water in the office to make sure I didn't get too tight, and it went down fine. He recommended transitioning back to soft foods over the next 48 hours, starting with liquids.

After the fill, I sipped on a Protein Drink for a while, drinking about 4 ounces, and about 20 ounces of water throughout the afternoon and evening. I also went on a 3 mile jog last night.

When I laid down for bed (finally!) my stomach was SO LOUD!! I didn't feel hungry at all but it was gurgling, growling, groaning, and just simply being annoying! I was thankful my husband was working graveyard or I know it would have kept him awake. This morning, even after drinking some tea and my liquid vitamins (mixed with some Bolthouse juice) it started up again. So loud my husband heard me across the room!

This just started since the fill. Is it just reactionary since I'm on liquids again, and my stomach thinks it's hungry, or does a fill "set it off" like this?!

I know I probably sound really silly, but the office I work in is kind of quiet...I'm hoping my stomach can shush itself today!!!

Mine gets very loud at times, too. In fact if I move certain ways, it'll make noise every single time I move. My kids laugh because my stomach seems to "talk" more than my mouth some days.

I had chicken for lunch today (grilled) and about an hour later i was still craving something...so I had a Protein shake and then went on a walk...MY GAWD my stomach was talking to me...wowsers!

Oh my gosh, ME TOO! And I work in a quiet office, too! It's really embarrassing sometimes, I'm just sure the people in the cubicle(s) next to me can hear it! And I'm not hungry, although the gurgling makes me wonder if I am! UGH!

Ooh Gina good thought! That was the first time I drank a Protein drink since I've been off the full liquid diet. After surgery, my stomach didn't seem too loud but so many changes were going on I doubt I would have noticed. Good insight!

I think Protein does have at least a part of it. I know it's harder for your stomach to digest and I wonder if that combined with the squeezing of the band results in all the noises? I'm definitely going to ask my surgeon when I see him next week,

Wonderful!! I'm reading this as I'm sipping on my morning Protein shake, at work! I'll let you know if I get run out of my office later! LOL

Had my first fill Monday, and all was fine until last night. I got a Tylenol stuck, and the first bite of a snack because I was truly hungry about 7:30 pm -- both came back up, unfortunately. And the Tylenol hurt like a son of a gun. So, I guess I'm definitely feeling restriction now, where I hadn't in the past. I'll be VERY careful today!

Everyone have a good day too!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
