It does get better. I was cautious introducing food after I was banded, and I'm cautious after each fill as it does change. Remember, this is a lifestyle change, not an easy fix, you have to want to change your eating habits- and the band definitely helps!!!!

I am on my second fill and I have always been able to eat chicken breast. Very small bites, and chew chew chew! I poach the chicken breast in seasoned Water.

I make a dip for the breast

5 tablespoons plain greek yogurt

1 tablespoon lemon or lime juice

1 packet low cal sweetner

1/4 cup chopped cucumber peeled

salt and pepper to taste

mix all together then mix in small chicken chunks.

I also put buffalo wing suce on chicken bites and sprinkle with blue cheese for a spicy meal.

Hope you enjoy these as much as I do!

Hi I see that you have a band with plication that is what my Dr is wanting to do. Does your stomach feel different? you are just now eating Solids did it hurt when the Solid hit you stomach? I know these questions are crazy but when he said that it kind of spooked me a little. Do you know the difference between the sleeve and the plication?

hey de

well, only 2 weeks post op, i dont (feel anything different). i know that the plication is when they turn the stomach inside itself w/o surgery or cutting very much like the sleeve. look at this link

http://www.nwwls.com/banded-gastric-plication

i am excited. although its in early trials, the news that i have researched and from talking to my surgeon is that it is doing well w/weight loss and helping it.

WOW that looks wild I wonder if my insurance will pay if its a new procedure. everything I read says you lose weight faster and don't have the absorbtion problems like the gastric bypass and sleeve keep me posted on how you are doing I was happy to see that on your post since my Dr just talk to me about it. When he told me my eyes were round as saucers but he promised me all would be well and he has done them before......

i was more scared of cutting with the sleeve (my ins would not approve) and the bypass just scared me. because once you cut, there is no going back you know. and when he told me this, he asked did i want to do it?? he did not (charge me) as it is in early trials and he said he cant offer me any type guarantee and it is just a tool. he showed me lots of documents about it and he has performed it many times (and even him on you tube doing it) and i watched it........so i am hopeful this will (aid) me. he also stated it is also based on me and how much i wanted to succeed. (eating right/exercising etc).

i will keep you posted, promise

I think this is what my Dr is doing I think my insurance is paying for the Lapband(if approved we summit next month) but the plication is his doing Although he has been doing bariactric surgery for years he is trying to get our hospital certified as a center of excellence in bariatirc surgery and they have certian numbers they have to meet so I'm thinking the plication is extra to met the numbers he needs. I am relieved to read that it is reversable if it doesn't turn out well. Good Luck

My answer to "does this get easier" would be probably not. At some point your fills will give you enough restriction that you will find that some foods, no matter how small and how much you chew, will not be friends with your band. Oatmeal, yes, always. chicken, steak, breads, maybe not?

I have read where some people reach the green zone without a lot of restriction. As Jean McMillan says, it's not restriction we seek, satiety is the holy grail. If you can reduce the amount of food you consume enough that you are still satisfied(but avoid the "stuck" syndrome) and still taking in fewer calories than you burn, that would be the ultimate green zone. I'm in the green zone but it's a struggle every day.

I'm going to go back to my Dr and request a very small un-fill.

Good job Carolinagirl.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
