Fills.....

Had my first fill yesterday and it went great. The surgeon had initially put in 3.4 cc, so yesterday they gave me 1 cc. It was the easiest thing I have ever done when it comes to needles. I was so terrified going in and let me tell you, for those out there that hate needles, it was nothing. I didnt feel a thing. They gave me lots of information, a lunch bag, a timer and even a measuring cup for my food. I learned several new things while I was in there. Just had to post for those still waiting to get a fill. I started off at 225 lbs and i'm now at 201.8, according to the dr's office scale. So I met my 10% goal. Very exciting. Next goal: ONEDERLAND! Would love to hear everyone's fill stories.

@ Thanks for posting I always pay attention to what you say. Now I know if you said it was easy, I can relax when I get mine. Good job on your 10%, keep it up

Thats awesome. You described it perfectly! Honestly, I dreaded fills more than I dreaded the pain of surgery. I am terrified of needles but the fill didn't hurt. It definitely felt weird, and uncomfortable, but not painful. I could feel the Fluid going into my band. I had to be on liquids for 2 days post fill, had a teeny bit of soreness at the port. Overall, no big deal.

How big is your band Manda? I have 1cc in an 8cc band. She originally put 3cc in but took 2cc out because she said (after I sipped water) that I was too full.

I am comfortable with my 1cc so far. No trouble getting things down but I am careful to eat slower and chew more. I stay full a little bit longer than before. I have lost 16lbs since my surgery and the doctor was thrilled with that.

@eyewonder - I'm such a big baby when it comes to pain. So I know if I can do it then no one should have a problem.

Natalie - I have 4.4cc in a 10cc band. Congratulations on the weight loss! 16 lbs since surgery is great. My dr office gave me a performance sheet while I was in there and it described how much excess weight I had and until now I hadn't realized! I have like 87 lbs of excess weight. 87 LBS!!!! I couldnt believe that. So that has inspired me to get my butt in gear. That's larger than my 10 yr old! I'll have to lose the size of my 10 yr old plus some, that's just crazy. It's nice when people talk to you without talking down to you, that's what I love about my dr's office. They take such a wonderful approach to it, and of course the support of everyone here.

I also have a little bruising by my port from the shot but I bruise easy. A little soreness from the bruise but overall feeling great. I would do this all over again!

Well ladies I go in tomorrow to get my first fill. I'm excited and can't wait to get it. I have been at the same weight for about three weeks now. no gains and no loss so I guess that is good. But I'm ready to see the scale go down again. all together I have lost 29lbs and I so bad wanted to have 30 off before my first fill. So did any one get their next appointment schulded or do you just call the dr when you stop losing? I will let every one know how things went for me when I get home tomorrow night.

Mine next visit was rescheduled right then, and depending on my weight loss and how I feel they will assess my progress and let me know if I need a fill again.

Well I didn't get a fill. I told the dr that I have been having problems with getting sickl. So she would not do the fill. I have to stay away from all types of breads, pastas, corn and I want to say that there is one more but don't have the sheet handy to look at it. So if I can go the next two weeks with out getting sick than I will get a fill if not I have to go in and have a swallow study done. What ever that is. So please say a little pray for me. I so want this to work for me.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
