Day 9 of my pre op diet and its sad to notice how dependant one was to food...its everywhere!!...I must admit I've cheated a couple times and every time I felt worse...it's like I have this out of body experience...please someone tell me this has happened to them!!...plus now I'm even more nervous about surgery day, what if my liver is still too big...my surgery is June 25th and I've followed the pre op diet about 80% of the time...HELP!!!

Dont beat yourself up over it, plenty of people here cheated a little bit on a strict pre-op diet, but is it really worth taking a chance ?

I am sure all will be fine and its very unlikely that the liver hasnt shrunk enough for surgery to go ahead..

Just get back some determination that u will have the resolve not to cheat again... after all once u are banded the hard work starts then :)

You have no idea how much better you just made me feel!!...It's really hard plus you learn a lot about yourself and the relationship you have led with food and that can be pretty scary...but I'm sure you're right...just gotta stay on track :)

I'm only on day 2! It's so hard. I did cheat today, but I felt so sick! I just had a low fat string cheese, but it made me feel so much better! You made it this far, so just try and look on the bright side and if you must cheat eat something healthy. Good luck!

My doc has me on liquids just the night before surgery. He has done thousands of these surgeries. I have to wonder if they are just trying to get you used to your post op diet early?

P.S. my surgery is June 27th. I don't mean to offend anyone. Just saying what my doc said.

Some Dr's require such strict diets because they want the liver to be as small as possible. some don't seem to mind as much. I was required to do low-fat/low-cal, but you may be on to something with the trying to get used to the change.

I'm going to go with a liquid diet 3 days before just so my body is "clear" for surgery and recovery. I'm wondering if doing the Atkins diet will speed up weight loss post op. I want this fat GONE!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
