My doctor said to not eat red meat for 3 months post op due to the fact it is harder to break down. My doctor also said alot of people don't tolerate especially hamburger after having lap band.

I am four weeks post op and had hamburger last night. I had about 1/3 of a jalepeno burger patty (just the meat itself, it has the jalepeno's cooked in). I was taking micro-sized bites and used salsa to moisten it, and it went down fine. I did notice that after the meat, I could only get down a few bites of my steamed veggies, I was full.

I felt a little daring trying it so early post-op, and I think it's the only kind of red meat I could tolerate now (unfortunately, no steak for this girl!) but it set okay.

I eat all the red meats with no problem. I am 1 yr post op and had plication with my band. In fact, I just had 2 ozs of sirlon steak for lunch (left over from dinner). I notice you do get full faster and it stays longer. Since you are so new with you band, take it easy and wait until your doctor says you can have it. 95 pounds lost so far - 40 pounds to go !

Depends on what type of red meat? Hamburger, steak, roast beef? I can eat them all but steak and roast beef must be small bites and lots of chewing.
