MsButterKup23 1 Posted March 9, 2006 Well it's official I have a herniated disc and something wrong with another disc above it. I am going to have an anti-inflamatory injection that is guilded via x-ray into my back sometime next week. With the pain I'm in I'm ready to do just about anything. They also want me to go to physical therapy 3x a week for 4-6 wks. That's going to fly like a lead balloon when/if I ever get a job.

I figure it won't be any worse than the epidural I had with my daughter. Good to see ya on here Ray!
CCBSTX 0 Posted March 10, 2006 Carrie, I am wondering what the official name of these injections are called. Are they called "anti-inflammatory injections" or are the called something else. My Mother has horrible back pain, with herniated disks, and degernative arthritis. I am wondering if this is something that might be helpful beside the oral pain meds. If so, what type of doctor does these injections? Thanks, Shawn

I am seeing a spine surgeon, I am pretty sure he is going to do the injection. From what I gather they are pretty expensive as they are doing a pre-approval from my insurance company. juliek 0 Posted March 10, 2006 Hey Carrie, I have had the injections, they actually don't hurt at all - tiny little pinch when they numb the area. They helped me some, but did not relieve all the pain. I ended up with spine surgery, which ended up being a Godsend! Made a world of difference. Good luck, hope the injections help you!
