Hi all!

I'm Erica. I have not been banded yet. I'm researching the procedure to determine if it's something I want to do. That's why I'm here! :)

I'm married with 3 boys. I've been overweight since I was a teenager. I've tried to do it on my own. I've lost some, but I gain it back. I have diabetes and arthritis in my knees...and I'm tired of all of that.

So here I am...to learn about this. I look forward to chatting with you all.

Hi Erica! Hopefully we can answer any questions you have! My biggest advice is to immerse yourself in the forums so you find out about everything- some people get the surgery before they really read what it's about and how it works.

Have you gone to a seminar yet?

Hi Erica

I also have been overweight most of my life. So far I am glad I have the band, I have not had a fill yet but have lost about twenty pounds in a month I know that some of that is Water loss. So far I am hungry most of the time but it is getting better, when I get a fill I hope the hunger will go away and I still will eat less. Since you mentioned your knee’s I will tell you mine are so much better already I am able to walk better and my knees are not as painful. Good luck to you and please read as much as you can about this before committing. Please feel free to message me anytime.

Lassie

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
