Protein, Vegetables, and Fruit! Stick to the basics.

My WLS Coordinator told us about a patient who lost over 110 lbs in a year. When she was asked how she was so successful, she told them she ate her Protein first, then her veggies if she was still hungry, then fruit if she was STILL hungry. If she wasn't full after all of that, she would go for a walk or do some sort of exercise.

I'm trying to stick to that plan :)

That's exactly what I do, and I've lost over a 100 pounds in 5 months.

@michelle626, I suggest you meet with a nutrionist to learn what you should and should not be eating and how much. It's crucial to your weigh tloss success.

Stay away from that fast food! It is not your friend!

Good luck on making healthy choices. Protein first, then vegetables is a great plan.

I'm surprised you can eat fast food. I can't eat any fast food but you know to eat Protein, protein, protein. cheese sticks, beef Jerky, yogurt are good sources of protein. So if you go to McDonalds get a fruit n yogurt parfait, salad, or grilled chicken sandwich but don't eat the bread.< /p>

When possible plan your meals and bring it with you. When I failed to do that I would have to eat at the company cafe which meant I would get higher cal meals because that's all they had (even their "healthier options" had more fat/cals than I wanted.)

If you must go to a fast food place look for options that are healthier: chili from Wendy's (they also now have baked sweet potato skip the cinamon butter though), grilled chicken (order sandwhich no mayo eat chicken and lettuce/tomato), KFC has a nice grilled chicken breast (have corn on the cob and green Beans for sides).

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
