can anyone recommend a good blender? i don't have one... i am hoping to get 2 blenders, one for savory one for sweet because i can sometimes taste the crossing of the two and dislike it, so a less expensive but rockin' blender would be so appreciated!!

also do people suggest single serving blenders or larger blenders and store your extras?

thanks!

Get one blender and you can get seperate Canister/Jars for it so you do not have to mix sweet/savory stuff together... But you have one blender base. You can also get the food processor attachment for the blender base..or some blenders do the puree stuff for you.

We have an Oster 6844 blender in a candy apple red color, and hubby dropped and broke the jar thing. We ordered replacement parts online and have extras.. We ended up getting a chrome canister for it instead of replacing it with glass.. which he already dropped and dented a bit. But it is still usable where the glass would have shattered.

Shop around for them.. get some extra parts here and there.. for spares..

I bought the white Ninja Pulse at Target (700 watt version) and LOVE it! It came with three smoothie cups, one large blender canister, a canister storage cover, and dough paddles. It is extremely quite and fast! I paid $80 for mine. Walmart sells the Pulse as well (same price as Target), but their version is black and 500 watt with only two smoothie cups.

I have the magic bullet and it comes with a few different blending cups and blades. I think they are like 100$ but I've had mine for around 4 years.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
