Have You Ever Experienced This?!!

Recommended Posts

That is odd bc one of my girlfriends was banded same day as me (5-8-12) and she was telling me she felt that way. She planned to ask our dr about it this month.

Check with your Dr to rule out anything serious. But you have described what happens to me every blue moon. It is the most wicked, painful, sharp pain right below the left ribs. I can't sit, I can't stand, it's awful. I get this under all sorts of circumstances, so I can't figure out what it is. I went to my Dr and she said it was gas. Man, ALL that horrific pain and she says, "gas." Anyway, it lasts for about a minute or two to ten minutes and then just goes away as quickly as it came.

This may not be your case at all, just my two cents. But if it bothers you, see your Doc.

Good Luck!

I hate when people say its just gas lol how can it be gas in the same exact place every single time? I dont know, but i plan on making an appointment with my doctor just to rule out anything serious!!! thank you!!!

I get that pain all the time and I don't have a gallbladder. It's just gas. I get it a lot when I eat cabbage, squash or kale. Sometimes the pain last for 3 days.

I am going to give you another version of what it could be IF this is your pain. I periodically get a pain on the left side, under the ribs, in the realm of the port area but it can move slightly. If I get it mild I can control it by laying back, if I get it bad I can't sit up, move for a bit and help me if I start to laugh when in pain.

It feels like a charlie horse under my ribcage, the muscles can vary from twitching, gut wrentching, spasm that will come on suddenly and then can be gone. Worst time was for about an hour, then it left and hasn't been back. This pain is not gas!!

It can hit, during sex (such great timing), after I have been out and not properly hydrated myself. To fix the issue I usually eat a banana, and start to make sure I get the fluids in and drink drink drink. I figured out that it happens like a calf charlie horse..

if i keep hydrated, I do not get them!

Hopefully this is what your pain is... at least it is NOT gas!!!... Good luck!

Am I the only one that gets these pains? I never hear of anyone else...sigh

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
