Why Cant I Lay On My Side?

Recommended Posts

I wasn't able to sleep on my side for 2 weeks without pain. Then when I was able to I put a pillow under my stomach and layed on my side. My port is on my left side.

You have had abdominal surgery so it's normal to expect you won't be able to lie on your side until you are healed. In the short term, just find a comfortable position and remember that each day will bring you closer to being able to lie as you wish again.

5 days post op and it kills to lay on my left side. I can lay on my right with a pillow to hug. Try laying on your right? Some people told me they had to lay on their back for the first week or so.

I still find it more comfortable to lay on my back than on my left side and I am 2 months post op. Everyone is different though.

I am 4 days out and started sleeping on my side again (with pillows but always do). It hurts for about 2-3 minutes on both sides then gets better and I can go to sleep. Good luck to you!

8th day and I finally laid on my left side!!!! Well it was more like night of the 8th morning of the 9th! But you get my drift!! Didn't hurt but I was still aware to not make any sudden moves :)

My port and largest incision is on the right side. Im only first day post op, but it is painful to lay on that side. I feel a lot of pulling even on the left side. I've been shifting my hips to tilt and put a pillow behind my back for support.
