Pre Opp Diet?

Think I am more worried about loosing 10 lbs in 2 weeks then the actual surgery. Is the 2 week diet super hard to do?

So long as you've tested out the things youll be able to have during that time and you can tolerate them youll be fine. It's really a breeze. You also need a good support base. People that will support you and catch when you sslip up and go for the food the family is having.

You'll do fine

yes. plain and simple.. im not going to lie to you.. yes it is. its not a piece of cake ( no pun intended) but you will get thru it,

10 lbs is exactly how much i lost on my liquid diet. dont be worried at all.

so heres what i had on my liquids..

in the am .. i had a Protein shake............... 8 am

then i had a Jello or yogurt.. maybe a pudding cup ............... 10 am

then for lunch i always had Soup.. broth based. ............12 noon

followed by another Jello yogurt or pudding cup ( sometimes a piece of fruit, half an apple or banana)....... 2 pm

Protein Shake......... 5 pm

prtein shake with yogurt and a lilttle bit of oats. ..............7.30 pm

broth.... 9 pm.. ( if i was up and hungry)

i was allowed by my doc to have a small piece of fruit on my liquid diet.. and my Soup had to be broth based and i cud have noodles in there so i often had the low sodium progresso or i would make my own at home.

i ate very often sine the portions were not to big.. and liquid of course doesnt keep you satisfied for very long. sometimes i had two yogurt.. i bought the pre made low fat no sugar ones.. which were 5 calories each..

and to treat myself i made a prtein shake with blueberries, yogurt, crystal light ( fruit punch flavour) and Protein powder at nights after the gym. its really yummy.

again i wont lie to you the liquid diet is difficult... but .. the end result is worth it. keep focused and keep eating throughout the day. you will find that warm liquids create a sense of fulllness better than cold ones. drinking a cup or coffee in the morning wud help.. ( i dont drink coffee though.. sometimes i had a warm 4 oz of milk) and at night my broth wud be very hot and scallions wud give it a nice aroma/ taste.

I did a three week liquid diet and lost thirty pounds. It was really hard the first three or four days and then I got used to it. I did not go out at all and so I was not tempted other than when my boyfriend would eat stuff in front of me. I also exercised four times a week for 30-40 minutes. I don't know if they recommend exercise during this time but I think it helped me lose the weight. Sipping on Water when you are hungry helped a lot too.

I can't lie, it's awful. As for the 10lbs, the weight flies off on the liquids. Remember your end goal... It will be worth it!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
