I posted this very same thing yesterday. I lost 15 pouds after surgery and then yesterday, after 4 days on mushies, I had gained back almost 1 pound. I am disappointed as well but as I thought about it I imagined it made sense as I went from a liquid only diet to eating food again - even the little bit that it is. It still sucks though

its best to go by how loose your clothes are then by the scale. your weight changes so often each day, by drinking, eating, peeing etc.......try and weigh once a week at same time to get accurate readings.

Totally normal. I gained 7.5lbs when I switched to soft foods. I am on regular foods now and have lost that 7.5 plus a few more. Keep sticking to the plan and things will stabilize.

I gained a couple pounds back too. I am mad at myself but it sounds like it happens to a lot of people. I am just trying to increase the amount of exercise I am doing to keep my metabolism up.

Remember that immediately after surgery, you are getting dehydrated and some of your loss is Water loss. So as you feel better and are tolerating more, you are replenishing your water. This may be some of what you are experiencing. Same thing happened to me, so while the numbers were not favorable, my clothes continued to represent weight loss.

There are 2-3 posts just like this every day. You shouldn't be concerned about weight loss yet. You are still in the healing phase. Only when you get a fill and find restriction will you start to lose "fat". I emphasise the word "fat" because up to this point, the weight you've lost is mostly Water weight. That's not a bad thing but you won't lose fat weight till you reach your green zone unless you diet to the extreme.

And, you will only be losing 2-6 lbs per month, max, after you squeeze out all the excess Water your fat cells have been hoarding for years.

i dont think its realistic or healthy to lose that much weight continually ..initially it may have been a lot of Fluid for you plus fat, which is good, but you cant keep losing at that rate.

im sure that your weight loss will adjust now...

..as your diet changes your weight loss will settle down more. My weight loss is realistic for me at my age, im quite happy with it now. ive lost about 30 pounds in three months. another 30 to go.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
