When I woke up I was in a little bit of pain mainly cause of the the anathesia. But by the time I got to the car the pain was there full effect. So the drive home was okay I got to my apartment I was rushing to get upstairs and get to my room got to my room and thank God for my heating pad was awesome and how to me a lot and I took the medicine and I Laydown woke up two hours later drink a lot in my apple juice and went back to sleep and repeat but my throat was still hurting me now my throat is feeling a lot better. Keep drinking the liquids and it starts to feel better the heating pad I had it on my stomach it took the pain away completely. Until you take It off pain comes back lol. I'm up watching tv and try to walk around my apartment since its huge me and my dog. I'll keep you posted

Make sure to take your pain meds on time for the first couple days- if you wait til you are sore, it is harder to get relief.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
