Shelley I am going to the seminar next week, and since my insurance requires the 6 month medical diet that puta me about December. I have done tons of research & am fairly certain that I want to be banded. I assume you are doing the 6 month diet as well, to be all the way into December?

No, my boyfriend and I are getting banded together, we are self-pay. There are a couple of factors on why we are waiting until December (trust me, if I could I would do it today) He is leaving July 2nd for San Diego until the middle of December for work, and we both have an 11 day break for the holidays from work at the end of December, so it just works out. We want to have at least 10,000 in cash and finance the rest. But keep me updated on your journey. That would be awesome to do it together. Ty (my boyfriend) and I have our consultations on the 29th of this month. Right before he leaves :(

Yeah for sure! Although I don't envy the cash you'll spend I do envy you not having to deal with all of the insurance b.s. its not fun and I have only just scratched the surface!

I am sort of hoping that I end up losing a fantastic amount of weight on the preop diet, but I think that's unlikely. I have pcos so its ridiculously hard for me to lose weight at all.

My husband Tyler is skinny as they come so he is supportive but can't really step into my shoes.

It's polycystic ovarian syndrome. It messes with your hormones, especially insulin, big time. It basically makes your body store everything as fat, and it won't let anything go. My doctor said that basically I have to work hard enough to lose 5 lbs, but I will really only lose 1 with all that work. That's why I truly feel like I need the help of the band- its next to impossible with this disease. It also causes infertility, which is why we had to do infertility treatment to get pregnant. We now have a 14 month old son.

Congrats on your baby boy! Wow, I've been really lucky to not have any comorbilities, except a sore back. I just know that it's going to catch up with me though. And my boyfriend, I don't want to become parents until I'm able to keep up with any kid.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
