Yes! Lots of people do!

Do not fret or freak out if the scale goes up a little here or there.

It will or can increase with Water retention, hormonal levels, weather, food choices, exercise will cause muscles to build which is more weight, but you can actually be going down in size.

Don't obsess over the scale, I found I did initially and would hop on the scale multiple times a day which is NOT good!

Try to do it once a week or maybe twice, but don't worry over the numbers.. If you are doing what you need to do you will drop and you will see a difference in your clothes.

Good luck!

Yes I gained at each stage but I quickly adjusted within about a week and started losing again

Don't worry! Your body goes through cycles constantly, and transitioning your diet isn't just a flavour/texture transition; your entire system will need to adjust.

To be honest, I see 1-5lb shifts -- both up and down -- on a daily basis. Depending on any number of factors (when, what, and how fast you eat; the time you weigh yourself; how much sleep you got and what time you got up; etc.) your weight will fluctuate.

At first it is disorienting, but after a while you will get used to it. The most important thing is to focus on the graph: your progress over time, and your average weight over the course of days and weeks. If you can keep a regular meal and exercise schedule, and weigh in at the same time each day, that will also help give you a better baseline.

The thing that helped me the most in this regard was logging everything: weight, date, time, and what I ate that day. A pattern will emerge, and you can then use the data to make adjustments. Keep it up! :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
