How Did Your First Fill Go Im Due 26.6.12

Recommended Posts

How long did you wait for your first fill? By the time I get my first fill it will be 5weeks! I have no restriction with a 10ml band & 1ml currently in place!

How much restriction should I expect & how many mls did you all get in first time?

Thanks Everyone xx

I was SCRARED out of my mind! It went so much better then I ever thought it would. Be prepared to go back to the liquid diet for 24 hours and to be sore. Within 48 hrs I was back to "normal" :) Good luck.

My first fill was 6/14, 2cc was added to total 3cc. It wasn't painful at all, just like when they draw labs. I'm only hungry when I wake up in the morning. I can feel a difference with food going down if I don't chew enough

I didn't feel any restriction. I have been really luck with that, I have only found one thing that I can't eat and that is pork. I had 5cc added and mine now totals 10cc I am almost3 months post-op

I had 4cc put in first fill. Don't feel restriction. Didn't hurt more then a shot. Not the most fun but can get through it. I can ask for numbing stuff but feel a little like baby as sounds like most don't get it. Hoping 2nd will give some restriction.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
