Sticking To 4 Oz...

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone!

I would like to know, Is everyone out there eating their 4 oz 3x a day and nothing else?

I try, but at the end of the night I gotta have a snack followed by another snack. I eat out of boredom. :(

I have 9 cc's in, should I go for more?

I really never paid attention to that 4 oz a meal rule. I've been dieting for so many years I pretty much know how many calories I can eat and what food/meals will accomplish that goal. And tracking calories for me is so time consuming and I don't have the time.

For me, all the meal planning, preparation and obsessing about food only makes me think of food. This causes me to be hungry all the time and I really don't like that feeling. I probably consume about 1200-1400 calories a day and I don't feel deprived. I like it that way.

I know many bandsters follow the rules most of the time and it works for them but we're all individuals and must find our way through this maze in our own way.

So to answer your question, no I don't. I find that if I eat healthy foods such as salads, chicken, salmon, veggies, I keep that calorie intake low. And the band keeps me from eating toomuch. Thank you band!

BTW-How many cc's you have in your band is irrelevent. Some people have only 2-3 ccs and find the green zone. And if you eat healthy Snacks and you are satisfied after each meal, no need for a fill.

I do not stick with the 4oz, I make sure I eat all my Protein and very few carbs.

Just try to eat healthy and get all the required protein in.

I make better choices than prior to my surgery, I watch that my Snacks have 5 or less grams of fat and 5 or less grams of sugar. I do stay away from sweets, since those were my downfall. I have not had chocolate candy in almost a year. If I want chocolate I have Sugar Free Chocolate pudding. I am down close to 75 pounds, I think I am almost where I need to be for fills too.

Think about it. Four ounces three times a day? There isn't any food or combination thereof I can think of with a total of 12 ounces that would add up to a heathful amount of daily calories. Hasn't anyone ever figured this out? I had a friend who ate like this. She died six years ago from anorexia.

I stuck to about a cup to 1 1/2 cups if food or palm of my hand...I do stick to Protein first, then veggies. Occasionally I will add fruit in, skip a veggie. But I also take "greens" (It Works Co.). I try to get Proteins from fish, chicken, pork, and some tender red meat. Also Beans. No bread, occasional whole grain crackers w/ Gouda cheese. I don't calorie count, but stop before I feel full, wait a bit, and usually that does it. I will have a snack before bed but usually I'm not hungry, so I drink calorie free beverage.

Also want to add that I have a tough time eating before noon so I'll have a Protein shake or oatmeal or yogurt for Breakfast. And lunch us pretty light too. dinner is the most normal of my day.

I don't think I could survive on that little. I have 6oz-8oz meals, 3x a day. Also 2-3 glasses of skim milk a day (my doctors recommendation). If I want a snack I will have 4 or 6oz of Greek yogurt and don't feel guilty about it.

That being said, I only have 1cc in my band, so that may change.

I probably eat about 1-1.5 cups per meal of whatever I'm eating. I have never weighed out my food, but I make sure to pay attention to my body. I only eat til I get the satiated feeling. I also eat slowly and chew a lot so my body can have time to register how I really feel.

As for night hunger/eating, you need to determine if you're eating out of hunger or eating out of boredom. If it's hunger, add in a healthy snack for night. If it's boredom, try to find something else to do. I know if I eat out of boredom, I'm usually not reaching for healthy foods, and we all know that the unhealthy foods are the ones that slip right through the band.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
