BreBre 6 Posted June 15, 2012 I'm a week post op and I feel fine... But I'm starving. The past two days I had some scrambled egg and mashed potatoes. I was under the impression that if my stomach felt fine that I was in the clear. But after some research I see that I may feel fine but the digestion process could have very easily slipped my band. I've only been on liquids ever since but I'm very worried that I slipped. I really don't have any restriction. I drank an entire Protein Shake very easily and some mint tea. I didn't feel full at all. I'm not having any other symptoms of slipping, but should I go into the ER for an X-ray just in case?
blpchick 50 Posted June 15, 2012 I didn't have any restrictions when on full liquids either so I don't think that means you made it slip. If you are concerned I would just call your surgeon.
ready4change2 19 Posted June 15, 2012 I am able to eat scrambled eggs and mash potatoes one week post-op. They said as long as tolerated. I am not a week post -op yet. I must be swollen still because i do feel restriction. I can also have cream of wheat and yogurt. You should be fine.
Toddy 758 Posted June 15, 2012 First and foremost, you should follow your surgeon's instructions. That being said, I have seen more differing pre-op and post-op instructions on this message board than I can even put a number to. Seems every single doctor has a different plan. My doctor, for example, only had me on liquids for two days, then mushies two days, then all food as tolerated. I would not run to the ER just because I didn't follow instructions to the tee. If you're not feeling bad physically, you probably haven't done any damage. Just go back to your surgeon's instructions so you don't have to worry about it. BreBre 6 Posted June 15, 2012 Thanks everyone. I think I am just going to go back to the liquids and wait it out. My doctor does not have me going to mushies next. He is having me 2 weeks liquids and then to soft foods. So, I guess it is different for every doctor. I just feel like my body needs more than these liquids and I am losing incredibly fast. I'm already down 15 pounds and today is my PO day 7.
♥LovetheNewMe♥ 1,216 Posted June 15, 2012 Toddy is correct, every doc is different, I was eating solid foods within a week of surgery. Small amounts but solids. the first few weeks are difficult but try to remain focused on your goals and take it one day at time. I am pretty sure your mand is ok, just follow the instuctions outlined by your doc and if needed increase the frequancy you take in liguids. The first 6 weeks is not about losing weight but learning to adjust to the band and giving your body to heal. You have a journey and a life style change ahead of you and the weight will come off. Look at your progress already, think of how great your going to do once you really start trying. Good luck to you in your new life.
honk 780 Posted June 15, 2012 If you are hungry I would eat more servings of the foods you are allowed. I doubt you caused a slip but please go back to your doctors perscribed diet. I was on clears for 7 days, then full liquids for 7 days before moving to yogurt day 15 and then canned tuna or chicken at day 21.
ready4animprovedme 54 Posted June 15, 2012 I am feeling this same type of concern. I was 1 week post op on Tuesday and I have cheated and had some mushies earlier than I should. I too felt starved. But I also have that constant worry in the back of my mind that I could mess something up, which is the last thing I want to do. I too think I'm going to return back to liquids as instructed.
