How many calories are you eating per day?

Recommended Posts

I'm pretty new to this board, I posted only once before, and now I forgot how to do it, hopefully I'm posting in the right board, I just couldn't figure out how to start a thread to ask this question:

I'm eating now between 1200-1350 for the past two weeks, before I was doiong 1500-1600 and I was in a long plateau, I broke it after my last fill, but I'm concerned that I may still be eating too many calories? Can you tell you how many are you eating? any advises please? I weight 249 now, I walk 30-45 min per day. Thank you for your help.

I'm not an expert, but I think the most people eat around 12,000 a day or a bit less. But not to much less then that. You can click on the search button on the top bar and type in calories per day, and you can see the diffrent threads that talk about this issue.

I average between 800-900 calories per day. Every once in a while, I'll choose a day where I kick it up to about 1100-1200.

I'm still around 200 - 300, but I'm just one week post-op and my appetite hasn't come back yet. After recovering I hope to range somewhere between 900 - 1100, depending on my current weight & activity level.

You might want to find out your basal metbolic rate and base your daily intake on that. Factor in your exercise too.

Thank you so much, I actually did the RMR at Ballys and it showed 2700, so I guess I could eat 1000 calories per day less than that which will be 1700 per day and still lose weight, but guess what, I tried that and it didn't work, I didn't lose. so it's confusing. Hugs,Helen

I average 500-800 calories a day. My doctor recomended 1000-1200 per day but I just can't get that down in a day!

I keep hearing from the dietian / exercise psycologist (spelling) that not to let it drop less the 1200 or your body tries hard to hold on to the weight.

I'm not sure the real answer but I eat about 1200 and I'm a slow loser now, so I'm not sure how I'd do if I went down to 600 - 800. I will try it after my fill, right now I'm feel too hungry.

Well, it doen't matter what I eat, so I've just given up counting calories all together. 700 or 1700, or anyplace in the middle I don't lose.

But I'm a special case, so don't base anything on me... :)

I've been diagnosed with Cushing's, a rare metabolic disorder. I'm at the airport right now waiting for my flight to take me to see a specialist (ok, and to see my family) in Seattle.

You can read about Cushing's either in my journal (see my sig for the link) or search for the key word Cushing's.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
