I've read where some can feel it and can feel a fill or when food passes through it. Not me. Can't feel a thing except when I'm stuck.

Nope.

I could feel my port as a hard mass that sometimes felt like it got in the way when I used my abdominal muscles to bend over, but I couldn't feel my band around my stomach. It's my understanding that the nerves in the GI tract don't react to stimulation the way nerves do elsewhere in the body. For example, when you stimulate your thumb buy pricking it with a pin, the nerves in your thumb immediately say, "Pain!" But when an organ or structure in your GI tract is stimulated, the nerves send the pain signal elsewhere in the body.

I was terrified of feeling it and I can't... I can feel the port if I go digging for it, and lying on my stomach on the computer isn't all that comfortable anymore because I feel a little achy. I can also feel cool liquid draining through when I drink, but that's comforting because it means all is flowing...

I don't "think" I can feel it......but sometimes I do feel something around where I think it is....but I wonder if its where I had a hernia repaired and not the band--but I do always wonder. I keep meaning to ask the doctor at my visits...but I always forget.

I have however felt it when food passed through....only a few times...but it was in the beginning and I thought maybe I still had a little swelling or maybe I hadn't chewed my food well enough...it wasn't painful, but definately a foreign feeling.

So you can't see the port through the skin ?

Can't feel the band at all. My port is pretty deep and after 70 pounds lost it still is not viewable. I can feel the port if I push on the skin above it. If I do an intense work out I can get muscle pain around the port.

I can't feel my band unless I'm stuck, but my port is now sticking out under my ribs. It's a fairly hard round lump. I couldn't see or feel it at all at first after I got my band.

It doesn't really bother me much and no one else notices, I kind of got used to it, but I could have it moved to make it less visable, once I reach my goal, but this is done with just a local anesthetic but I'm not sure I can face that.

So you can't see the port through the skin ?

You might see it after losing a lot of weight. Mine looked like a round bump under the skin, but it wasn't weird looking and I don't think anyone would have noticed it if I'd gone out in public wearing a bikini (which I assure you, I have no plans to do ever again in my entire life).

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
