Heya LapBand Peeps,

(Just my luck, I don’t have all of my notes here at work when I’m thinking about this.)

Is there something that details the recommended amount of activity I can engage in during my recuperation after surgery?

Specifically. I was hoping to mow the lawn soon and didn’t want to fry myself out damaging something that hasn't fully healed.

Week 1 - Rest, Walking, Lift no more than 20lb.

Week 2 – Small amounts of ??exercise??

Week 3 – Small amounts of ??exercise??

Week 4 - ;)

Week 5 - ^_^

(I'm 10 days from my surgery at this point.) :blink: {June 4, 2012}

Thanks in advance,

Matt

My doc told me no weights or ab workouts for 30 days. He said all cardio is allowed after the first week.

My surgeon basically said whenever I feel good enough.

The fitness consult girl said start a regimine after 4 weeks (walking + weights).

The nutritrionist yesterday said walking/biking now is okay, but no horseback riding (I own a horse and asked specifically).

So, I haven't been told anything consistently. So far I've just done some walking at a moderate pace.

I agree with TXGirl. I'd layoff any pullups, chinups, leg lifts or anything that would stress your abs. That port needs to meld into your muscle or it'll flip over.

Hi Matt, I was banded May 21 and mowed the lawn yesterday. No problems at all. I notice that we started at the same weight and you are winning the race so far <_< How are you feeling? Are you on mushies yet? I was really hungry on the liquid and not much better on mushies. Solids are helping but I cannot wait till my first fill on June 28. Restriction, here we come!

Hey Matt,

I was banded on May 30 and actually mowed my grass about 10 days later. I felt pretty good and had been walking quite a bit before. I have a fairly small flat yard I took my time when cutting it and didn't try and do too much. It didn't help that I had just purchased a new mower a week before my surgery and wanted to use it again. As far as exercise is concerned I was told by my Dr to just stick with walking until my follow up visit a month after surgery. I'm almost at my third week and feel as if I could do much more exercising but figured I could wait one more week. Good luck with your journey.

@ Daddyof4,

I'm doing ok. I'm able to get around pretty well. The first week I had to use

Sprix (Ketorolac Nasal) to keep the pain down. But was able to go off of it by Friday.

I'm tried out some runny mashed potatoes & mushy refried Beans. They went down fine. Although we can't seem to pinpoint what started to give me super bad "rotten egg" farts in the evening. I was killing my wife & daughters, so I had to stay in other rooms to keep them from passing out.

As long as I drink all the different liquids I seem to feel full. I (so far) have only had a couple "hunger fits" when I smell regular food being made. But as long as I get some V8 juice, chicken broth or tomatoe Soup, I have been able to take care of my hunger.

(Keeping my fingers crossed that things continue in the positive.)

Thanks for being there everyone, ;)

Matt

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
