Jim1967 3,569 Posted June 14, 2012 Yes, I had some after effects from it as well. Did they give you a Spirometer? I found that helped a lot.
kbliss78 123 Posted June 14, 2012 You should try to couch alot after surgery. It is very common. If you dont use your lungs and cough or use that tool they give you, it can lead to a lung infection (even after being under such a short amount of time). I felt like I had a mild cold for about a day.
lucky2bLAURA 31 Posted June 14, 2012 I had to cough like crazy the first couple of days post. And my voice was totally gone. They told me they put an intubation tube in to help me breathe during surgery, and my throat and bronchial tubes ached for about 5 days after surgery. But like the others said I used that thing they gave me in the hospital and I think it really helped to get it out of my system. That and I made myself keep taking deep breaths to get rid of the pain.
