Second Fill Tuesday...ate Soild Food Wednesday...now I Feel Bad!! Please Help

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone. I had my second fill on Tuesday and now I have 3.5 ccs in a 10cc band. Everything was going down fine until i ate two pieces of chinese food on last night. Sorry to be nasty but I had to go into the bathroom and throw it up because my band was hurting. However, there was a little blood that came up which made me think something got scratch during the process. I was able to drink Water a hour later and everything was okay. This morning I am eating cottage cheese and peaches and have a small burn when it goes down. I am thinking I didn't give my stomach time to heal from the fill and hoping it will go away. If anyone experience this before please let me know. I am seriously thinking about calling my surgeon.

My surgeon has me on 2 days Clear Liquids and 2 days full liquids. i know a lot of surgeons are not that strict. But try staying on liquids for a day or 2. Nutriionist, also, says that cottage cheese is not mushy, it is a real food. Might be too much after a fill and getting sick episode! Best wishes. Karen

Thank you all so much. My directions were Clear Liquids one day, mushies day 2 and regular food day 3. With what I am feeling, I am going to stick with just liquids today and work back up. I think with this fill I have to realize that I can't eat as much as I did before. This is teaching me a real lesson. The cottage cheese went down and I think if it still feel funny on Saturday I am calling him.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
