Mine didn't flip but developed a leak. I had mine repaired under local anesthia. It was not a bad surgery at all. I chatted with my surgeon and joked around about how I was a malpractice lawyer *wink*.

Now the recovery was pretty painful. I don't remember having that much tenderness at the port site the first time around. Still nothing that couldn't be handled with Advil and frozen peas.

For those of us who have had problems with this surgery, Congratulation for continuing your fight. adorkbl, you keep up your work, you are doing really well. Making the commitment to have this surgery done is a big step, and to have problems and then keep fighting is a even bigger commitment, both emotionally and financially. To those who haven't gone back to continue your fight try one more time. Never say never. If you can't because of finances maybe the band people will read these posts and follow up on their commitment.

Emailed him directly just a few minutes ago. I'm not sure if he's even getting updates from my PCP regarding all my stomach issues I've been reporting. The x-ray clearly shows it flipped and some of the blood tests have come back out of range so I sure hope so. We'll find out shortly and hope tomorrow shows what needs to get fixed.

He may not be getting updates from your PCP unless you specifically tell your PCP to update him and sign a waiver to allow them to share your medical info.

That must have been a mighty painful fill to prevent you from getting another one in 3 long years, and it's hardly surprising that your weight loss has been disappointing because the band doesn't usually work very well without fills. I wouldn't give up on it too quickly, though. You can ask for a shot of lidocaine to numb your abdomen to make another fill more comfortable.

I'm not disappointed with my weight loss at all... All of my co-morbides have disappeared and I probably wouldn't have survived Leukemia two years ago and four rounds of Chemo if I hadn't been that healthy from all my weight loss.

Had my ultrasound this morning and the tech didn't seem concerned about anything she saw. She thinks the next step will now be an upper GI barium swallow to see what my band is doing.

I to have had nothing but port problems. :( 2 revisions and its flipped again! I dont have the time or money to have it done again. So i have to have them manipulate it and move it all over and stab me ten times just to get it in. So painful and im sore for a few days after.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
