Not a lot of bandsters out tonight? Can't help you from personal experience and I hope I never get to find out.

If you can eat whatever you want, it could be any number of things other than a slippage. Since you are new to this you are probably in "Bandster Hell". They usually don't put much saline in your band at first. You do get a lot of restriction from the trauma of surgery. The swelling in the band area behaves much like you are in the green zone but most bandsters aren't. This usually goes away 2-4 weeks after surgery. You suddenly can be extremely hungry and food just doesn't make it go away.

I had this but for me I got enough restriction from the band that it kept me from overeating. But I could eat anything I wanted and nothing got stuck till fill #3.

Hope this helps?

How long have you felt the no restriction? For me the band is fickle and I can have good restriction today and not so much tomorrow, but, this only lasts a day or so. 2muchfun has a good point, you may be in bandster hell where the fills are gradual and good restriction comes later on after several fills. I seriously doubt that you have a slipped band. Don't worry so much.

Before I got my band unfilled last month, my band had been slipped for almost 4 mths probably. At first, the only effects were nightime reflux. As it progressed (I was afraid of going to the dr for fear of gaining weight), I becasme less and less satiated after eating. I vomited as often as I had over the past 2 1/2 yrs (why my band slipped in the first place) about 2-4 times a week. The reflux got unbearable. I wrote my nurse about my symptoms and she told me to come in for an xray to rule out a slip. I went (couldn't stand the acid gurgling in my throat all nite, sleeping sitting up, and the 3 meds I took). My band was flattened (slipped). So they took out about 1/2 of my fill (I had 9.5 cc in it) and let me be for 3 wks. The plan is to refill it tomorrow and see where I go from there. I hope to God it rectifies itself. Problem free for over 2 yrs and hope to be forever now.

Good luck!

Marci

looks like you're about a few weeks out of surgery according to your profile, so what's happening is that the swelling from surgery has probably dissipated and now you are hungry again. This is absolutely normal, so don't be worried :)

Marci, I see you've lost so much weight. I sincerely hope this plan works for you. I looked at your before and after. I don't think I've ever seen such a transformation? I mean really, it's really amazing!! I hope I get even half the results you did. But I'm not wearing the skirt :P

I actually just had my band removed on Thursday due to a major slippage.

From what I have experienced, slippage actually takes quite a long time. It will slip a little at first and you may have vomiting, trouble eating certain foods, acid reflux, etc. If it isn't taken care of, it can continue to slip more and more to the point of no return. If it is only slipped slightly, your doctor can take the Fluid out and it may return to it's original position.

Mine however, slipped to the point of no return and I decided to have it removed. My symptoms were I wasn't able to eat ANY solid food without horrible, excruciating stomach pains. Just check with your doctor if there are any doubts! Better safe than sorry. :)

I'm having an abdominal ultrasound tomorrow to try and figure out all the nausea and stomach aches I've been having for about a month. I also have trouble swallowing at times unless I drink with the food. My port has flipped upright for sure according to the x ray taken a few weeks ago. No idea what's going on but I'm tired of feeling like I'm going to throw up most every single day for the better part of the morning and early afternoon.

i would not worry to much,,i am the same as you..i am 25 days post up and hungry as anything..i could probably eat a normal amount if i was allowed..apparently like said above me, its beacuse i have not had a fill and my swelling is gone however i stick to the normal eating directions and you should too so you heal properly. so unlikely your band has slipped..but dont overeat as you want to prevent that..and try to stick to healthy options instead of "everything" our bands are just a tool, we still have to work hard at changing our bad habits into good ones :)

goodluck with your journey :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
