LACEY12 0 Posted March 8, 2006 I am having my lap band surgery tommorrow. I am suppose to be following a low carb, high Protein diet, for 7 days prior to surgery. Not doing so well on this. I am told this is to make my liver smaller to make surgery easier. Since I am not doing well on this before surgery diet, can this affect me after surgery getting hungry sooner? I didnt tell my doctor I was not doing well with the before surgery diet. Should I have told him? I just seen and talked to my surgeon tonight. He told me I would feel hungry even with the lapband. I thought this band helped you eat less, feel fuller, am I missing something?
banded_for_life 2 Posted March 8, 2006 Your band is designed to worked with fills which will eventually help you eat less and feel fuller, but it doesn't happen immediately. But yes you will feel hunger, how you respond to the hunger is what is important.
cashley 0 Posted March 9, 2006 My surgeron said that he's turned away people because their liver was too big but I don't know that i believe him. I guess it seems skeptical since he has to get the camera and stuff in there before he knows that your liver is shrunk. He said that was the only reason and that it wasn't to torture us or try and make us learn to starve prior to surgery.
