New To This, Just Starting This Journey

Recommended Posts

Okay, so I had my aha moment last week, and decided to finally start checking into the lap band. My big question is how long are people out of work? I am a cook so I am on my feet 9 hours a day and moving FAST. It is not unusual for me to log in over 22000 steps in a 9 hour shift, and then breaking down loads and lugging around boxes that are close to 25 to 30 pounds (luckily people help me with the 50 pound bags, usually). I need to be able to work at this intensity when I come back.

I was able to go back to an 8 hour shift where I clock 3.5-4.8 miles daily. I have to do a lot of bending but, not heavy lifting. Also, my Dr said no situps or lifting over 20 lbs for 6 weeks.

How long until you were able to go back? I think I would be okay with the no lifting as long as I could move around. And as long as I wasn't being stupid and try to lift more then I should with the mentality of "just this once".

I had surgery on a Tuesday and was back on Monday. I have a desk job. My doc told me no lifting or anything for a month.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
