Bobisgettingsmaller 1 Posted June 12, 2012 Ive seen where people say they don't eat pizza. Is it the nutrition part or is it one of those things that is just hard to eat with the band.
pink dahlia 2,513 Posted June 12, 2012 im not a pizza fan, maybe a once every 2 months or so. I think its the bread part because it expands and can get stuck easily. Try thin crust ??
waitingpatiently 250 Posted June 12, 2012 Both. But I just saw a recipe on myfitnesspal where you make your Pizza Crust out of cauliflower and cheese...the whole pizza is less than 400 calories and everyone said they couldn't eat the whole thing. I'm thinking that might be worth a try.
Bobisgettingsmaller 1 Posted June 12, 2012 I knew thin crust would work better. I just wasn't sure if people still had problems with that. I make homemade dough and do really thin crust, like almost see through before it's cooked. Really hoping i will be able to try it in a few weeks.
SageTracey 608 Posted June 12, 2012 Both! I recently made a vegetable pizza on a flour tortilla which was very nice and good nutritionally.
LadyMaggie 145 Posted June 12, 2012 I use the whole wheat pita bread and make my own homemade pizza; I add pizza sauce, lots of cheese and topings. I cook them for about 12 minutes so the crust is very crisp. Good Luck

daisychains7 427 Posted June 12, 2012 I remember at a pre op appointment, I told my nutritionist I was sad at the thought of never eating pizza again. She laughed and said "who said you could never have pizza again? You'll just have 1 piece instead of 4!" that made me happy. Haha. Haven't tried pizza post band yet but I heard thin crust is easier. Cant wait to try pita pizza soon.

honk 780 Posted June 12, 2012 It was a joke at work years ago that I would have pizza for lunch everyday if I could! I still love pizza. It is just high in cals/fats. I don't eat pizza if I am alone. However if my college age nephews invite me to the movies (I'm super fun Aunty Honk!); I don't feel guilty going out for pizza. I do order a side salad eat that first and then have one slice of thin crust. Being as one goes to college out of town my pizza nights are far in between. bornready 42 Posted June 12, 2012 I do what honk does, I eat a salad then have a small slice. By the time I get to the crust edge, I am full!
katwomantexas 2 Posted June 12, 2012 I eat pizza now. I am over a year out. I could not eat it at first but I can eat 1 slice now. I only do this about once every 2 to 3 months if that. I always get the crispy crust. Kat
gabbystrong 13 Posted June 12, 2012 I was looking online for a low carb pizza recipe and I found one that uses egg as the crust. Just cook the egg as you would an omlet. Place egg circle on a pizza pan and top with vegis, cheese and sauce bake for 10min. I tried it for lunch today. It was good alternative to Pizza Crust
NWgirl 574 Posted June 12, 2012 I really haven't had pizza since being banded, although I am not purposefully avoiding it. I am fine with most foods as far as eating goes (no cheap or fried doughy breads), so I would imagine I could eat thin crust pizza... My nutritionist is of the idea that there are no "bad" foods, just foods to consume in moderation vs ones you should eat all of the time.
~Suz~ 1 Posted June 13, 2012 I just make cheese or pepperoni pizza on a whole wheat wrap, 5 mins under the broiler and its perfect, and a bonus is that my kids even love it.
